LEARNING: A Thought-Provoking New Play Exploring Identity, Belief, and Love
New Writing at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, London

LEARNING, a brand-new production by Francesca Rose, has recently been performed at artsdepot to excellent audience reaction and will run for two weeks this February at Upstairs at the Gatehouse. This emotionally charged play explores the poignant journey of Debs and Jonathan—a couple torn between love and the pull of their respective faiths

Jonathan embraces the Jewish faith he has long evaded, while Debs, weary of living up to religious imperatives, longs for liberation. Amid raw conflict and fleeting moments of peace, they wrestle with their past and question whether their love can survive the divide.

Directed by Sharon Reshef-Armony, LEARNING features an original score and dynamic movement, adding an extra layer of depth to its exploration of identity and belief. The cast includes Gemma Franco as Debs and Nick Delvallé as Jonathan, with musical direction and composition by Gemma Franco.

This play touches on many personal experiences woven within the threads of Debs’ and Jonathan’s unique story. I’m excited to share my work as an exploration of love, faith, and the complexity of human relationships.
